Lovers of stiff drinks with no pretense rejoice: neighborhood staple Mission Bar is safe for the foreseeable future.

Laura Callahan, who owns the 2695 Mission St. dive bar, told Capp Street Crap that she signed a 10-year lease with her landlord in October with the option to renew.

Concerned she might have to move her business, Callahan was in negotiations for another space in the neighborhood when her current landlord came through.

“It’s a real crap shoot,” she said of the commercial rental market in the Mission. “I didn’t know where it was going to lead.”

Opened on Nov. 19, 1998, Mission Bar has remained as no frills as its name, a dying breed in the neighborhood.

Whether in her current space or not, Callahan said she “always intended to stay here in the Mission.

“It’s a very happy turn of events I get to stay,” she said.
